eXoTendon Finger Tape is a high quality sports tape. It is specifically designed for the sport of climbing and it is especially designed for taping fingers.

The design is a result of climbers frustration over the often unsatisfactory result of tearing standard size sports tape into usable strips for taping fingers.

  • It is hard to get the exact desired width of a strip when you tear a wider tape. This gets even harder when you want thin strips.
  • The structural integrity of the fabric is degraded by tearing, resulting in an effective support that is less then the torn strips width. (torn and distorted fibers along the edge)
  • Removing tape after a session often result in sticky glue residue on your skin that is hard to remove.
  • Tearing long strips length-wise often result in an un-even width strip as many standard sports tapes do not have an exact alignment of its fabric structure to its cut/edge. This in turn results in a remaining roll that is unsuited to tear the next strip of tape or the next line of strips.

Why tape fingers

Consult Your Physician

The reason for taping is usually injury recovery or injury prevention. To do this right you need to know your injuries, risks and how to treat them, this requires knowledge. Consult your physician, physical therapist or other relevant professional to learn about your condition and how to treat it. No tape can in any way replace professional advice!

Learn Your Anatomy

Amp up your knowledge about the ligaments in your hands. Knowing the machanics of it will help you understand how different grips give different loads on the ligaments and this may change the way you climb or assess the risks of injury while climbing. This knowledge can help you prevent injuries a lot better than any tape can.

Lean on Scientific Data

Scientific research have busted the myth of tape being an adequate direct support for the tendons and ligaments in your fingers. No tape can give support like tendons and ligaments.

Tape can only add a fractional support to the ligaments themselves. The most significant benefit taping can give your fingers is to reduce mobility so that the extreme loads on the ligaments are prohibited. The tape may also serve as a reminder, telling you mid climb that you need to be careful with your current condition and be mindfull not to cause (more) damage.
